  • He has a great passion for mathematics learning and he loves what he does daily.
  • He has great driving force in his teaching, he empathizes with the student and respects them, he believes all students can achieve their personal best by putting a good effort into their studies.
  • If you ask what Mr Geagea is like in the classroom, students would say he has patience, he always puts the time in to help his students. He stays behind to tutor students, even when he is busy with other things.
  • He never embarrasses a student in front of their peers and respects every question that is put to him. He explains things until people understand.

RESPONSE:

Thank-you Christine for your kindness and thoughtfulness. Unfortunately, an application would require about 2,000 words from me and for this reason I will refrain from this competition in 2018-2019. However, should you again nominate me in 2019-2020, I would be only too happy to give this competition a shot as it would benefit both my school and me. Living in Perth, life has been kind (and profitable) for me and I would suggest a teaching career to all aspiring young people who would wish to follow in this noble calling.

ENDORSEMENT B:

  • As a mathematics teacher, I approached Robert for tutoring as I knew that observing the way he approaches his lessons would give me many valuable techniques that I can use for my lessons with my students. Robert displays incredible competence as a tutor/teacher as he has 40 years of teaching experience under his belt. As a result, his teaching is clear and concise, and he has many ways/methods to go about explaining concepts to students. He has dealt with many mistakes that are common to students and has experience and relevant knowledge as to how to go about dealing with socially acceptable behaviours as well as the anti-social behaviour which may appear in students from time to time.
  • He is also incredibly familiar with the various year levels and mathematics syllabus contents. This enables him to have a very sharp focus in his teaching with regards to teaching students the relevant and exact key concepts that they need to learn. I have personally been able to improve my skills in using the ‘Class-pad Calculator’ as a result of his tutoring. He is an expert at using this information technology tool that is highly useful in the investigative mathematics classroom and in high school assessment and examination today. Robert has given me greater confidence in utilising the device's functions and capabilities to the fullest in the solution of mathematics problems.
  • He has also taught me a great deal about techniques and ways I can go about solving challenging mathematics questions and tackle more complicated concepts. With his thorough experience and great expertise in mathematics, Robert builds students' confidence and equips them with the tools and relevant knowledge to enable them to achieve success in mathematics.
